Kindle Sales To Reach 8m in 2010?

Kindle is the best e-ink based e-reader around these days. It is not a surprise to see Amazon doing so well with its e-reader. Of course, we do not know how well exactly Amazon is doing considering that it does not disclose its Kindle sales numbers. According to a report by Bloomberg, two sources familiar with the company’s sales projections have indicated that Amazon could reach 8m in Kindle sales by the end of 2010. Amazon was not expected to sell more than 5m Kindles before 2010 started. It has simply outperformed with its new cheaper, more powerful e-reading device.

Apple may have sold more iPads but Amazon seems to have the right idea with Kindle. Its other competitors (Sony and B&N) are struggling and won’t be able to keep up with it in the next couple of years. Amazon is also planning an Android App Store. It is rumored to be working on its own Android tablet too. Kindle is far from dead, as some suggested when iPad made its debut.
