Amazon Kindle 2 has gone out of stock. Amazon promises this to be a temporary issue, but we are getting awfully close to Kindle 3′s alleged announcement date (early August). Unless Amazon is planning to keep Kindle 2 around and offer it as a budget option to e-reader fans, there is no reason for the company to keep selling Kindle 2 units if Kindle 3 is ready to go.
This development could be due to Amazon dropping Kindle’s price recently. Maybe it just can’t keep up with the demand. It does look a bit suspicious though.
What do you think? Is Amazon cleaning house to unveil Kindle 3?

Hopefully with the amazing sales they are getting from Kindle books they will be able to start subsidizing the Kindle device itself.
Just think how many Kindles they would sell at a $99 price point.
