This is what showed up when I did this on my Kindle.

The information is up-to-date and shows you what kind of weather you can expect to see in your area. You can also test this service on your computer. It covers over 50k places around the world. The date/time is independent from your Kindle’s internal time.  This gives you a pretty simple way to look up the weather forecast in your area using your Kindle.

Peg Solitaire: the game is pretty simple to pick up and quite entertaining. Your goal is to clear the whole board until one peg is left. This is an awesome time killer of a game.

Battleship: brings the classic board game battleship to your Kindle. It has multiple modes and lets you play solo or against a friend.

Blocked: an addictive puzzle game for Kindle. Your goal is to move the marked block off the board. It has 4 difficulty levels and 36 puzzles per each level.

Slingo for Kindle: it’s a combination of Bingo and Slots. This number matching game works for quick and long play sessions.

Many have received a new Kindle with ads as a gift this holiday season. Amazon’s ads are not that annoying. But there are some folks who prefer not seeing them at all. Just like most smartphones, your e-reader can be jailbroken. The process is surprisingly easy. Y42K has published an easy to follow guide that shows how the process can be done fast.

In order to remove ads from your Kindle, you need to delete the .assets folder. That’s where all the dirty work gets handled. By removing this folder and replacing it with a dummy file, you will be able to use your Kindle without having to deal with the ads. Keep in mind that Amazon is not exactly open to its customers using this technique. If you don’t want to anger Amazon, you could always pay a few bucks more ($40 in my case) to unsubscribe from the ads on your Kindle device (you can do so on Manage Your Devices page on Amazon.com).

I seem to be having an issue where my Fire can connect to my router, but my internet’s speed immediately plummets down to where it can only download at 1.0 kb/s. As soon as I make my Kindle forget my network the speed jumps right back up. Downloading 6.1 update now to see if that fixes the issue.

Scott-ross Dailey explained on the Kindle forum. Kindle users are reporting that getting the latest Kindle Fire Update v. 6.2 solves this issue (it can be done over the air).
