As we predicted a short while ago, Amazon has decided to reduce its “Kindle 3G with special offers” price to generate more momentum for the Kindle family of products. Kindle 3G with special offers is now available for $139 on Amazon.com ($25 off its previous price). Kindle WiFi with special offers is still going for $114. One has to wonder how long that price will last.
Something tells me that we will soon see Kindle WiFi go for $89 or so on Amazon. This is just a guess at this point. But Amazon was expected to bring the cost of its e-readers to under $100 by the end of 2011. The ball is back in B&N’s court now.
