Amazon Tablet To Cost $171?

Apple has been dominating the tablet market for a long time already. Many experts had assumed that Apple would not have it this easy in the tablet market. But Motorola and other Apple rivals have tried and failed to challenge the company. Amazon has already set up an announcement for September 28th. It is most likely going to be on the company’s upcoming tablet. Amazon Kindle tablet will be very similar to NOOK Color in concept. It will have a color screen and won’t be priced higher than $250.

Amazon has more pieces than B&N to make its tablet work though. For starters, the company has a quality Android App Store. Let’s not forget about its ebook, video on-demand and cloud music services. Last but not the least, Amazon has a large number of loyal customers to count on to make its tablet a success. Kindle is already the king of e-readers. There is no reason for Kindle tablet to fail to be competitive against the iPad.

This device is expected to ship with a custom Android UI by Amazon. According to multiple sources, Amazon tablet will go for $250. The price will most likely include a free membership to Amazon Prime. Considering that Prime membership costs $79 a year, Kindle tablet buyers will essentially get their device for $171. Considering that Amazon keeps improving its Prime offering, this would be a killer deal (the latest improvement being a deal with Fox to add more content for this program).

Amazon will face stiff competition from B&N and other tablet markers. B&N is planning to release a 10 inch tablet to the market shortly. Acer, ASUS, and other players in this market are also realizing the benefits of under-pricing the iPad. Some experts still expect Amazon to refresh its e-ink Kindle product line. All will be revealed on September 28th.
