The content behind them is a bit iffy, but we shall see. Sony is also doing a good job competing. Amazon can't keep the lead in this market without putting customers first.

I am personally very excited with the iPad and the Crunchpad. Yes, $9.99 for a book you can't sell or give to someone else is simply too much. However, the real issue (for me) is that I can't sell or give it to someone else.As an IT guy, I know the technology is there. There is no reason why Amazon can't remove a book from my Kindle and put it on someone else's. They've already shown that they can remove books from someone's Kindle so why not add the missing piece? It would be so easy for them to do.The fact that they don't do it tells us that they are not putting the needs of customers first. They should and they will when we stand up. Use Project Gutenberg for your ebooks (http://www.gutenberg.org) - they are free (but old and out of copyright). Still, stop buying ebooks from Amazon and force them to implement the features that we want.We can all do it, if we work together. Amazon will bend to the will of its customers or another ebook reader maker will get our business.

This issue must get solved … and I am sure it will be, in time.
